About Me
A lifelong composer and musician, Travis has been immersed in the diverse and ever-evolving world of music since the age of six, when he first touched the piano—improvising endlessly and jotting down ideas on staff paper.
Drawing inspiration from classical and jazz to contemporary and experimental genres, he explores, improvises, and composes across a wide musical spectrum—crafting everything from orchestral works to game music infused with retro synths and lush pads.
Aside from the piano, some of his favorite instruments are the French horn, violin, and cello. Many of his compositions feature solos for these instruments, though he often writes with the intention of allowing various instruments to take the lead with the melody.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Music Composition from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas (UNLV), honing his skills in various musical styles and compositional techniques.
Recently, he has been composing music for a variety of indie video games through numerous game jams, including those hosted by the local International Game Developers Association (IGDA), Game Maker’s Toolkit (GMTK), Brackeys Game Jam, Global Game Jam (GGJ), and a few individual developers. His compositions span a wide range of styles—from a festive Christmas rock piece to a majestic medieval castle theme.
One particularly amusing project he worked on was for an IGDA game jam, where the challenge was to compose music using only the human voice—creating percussive sounds and imitating sound effects through vocal techniques. The game, Chalupa Defense Force, was a quirky twist on the tower defense genre. Instead of defending a traditional tower, players had to protect an actual chalupa from being devoured by mechanical spiders, all while playing as a robotic unit on a distant planet in space.
Among the many exciting projects he has worked on, another he particularly enjoyed was for the GMTK Game Jam: Friendly Bunnies, a first-person horror game where players must survive waves of zombie bunnies. For this project, he composed a dynamic soundtrack blending rock band elements with layered synths and arpeggiators to match the game's chaotic and eerie tone.
Travis takes pride in the music he has composed, with the pieces from Chalupa Defense Force and Friendly Bunnies standing out as particular favorites.
